Employment Tribunals Fee Changes

Posted Jul 22, 2013

Employment Tribunals will now charge fees for all claims presented on or after 29 July 2013. The fees will be separated into 2 Levels depending on the nature of the claim.

Level A claims are generally for sums due on termination of employment such as unpaid wages, payment in lieu of notice, holiday pay. The issue fee for such claims will be £160 with a further hearing fee of £230.

Level B claims include those relating to unfair dismissal, equal pay and discrimination. The issue fee for such claims will be £250 with a further hearing fee of £950. If a claim for Level A and B is submitted the higher fees will apply.

These fees are extremely controversial, and a leading Trade Union is currently trying to have them overturned in the courts. We will give an update if there are further developments.
