Collaborative Law

The Collaborative Family Law process is a relatively new way of dealing with issues arising out of divorce, separation or other family disputes and resolving those without going to Court.  Each person appoints their own lawyer who will work collaboratively with the other lawyer and professionals involved.  Instead of conducting negotiations between you and your partner by letter or phone you will meet together to work things out face to face but each party will have their lawyer at their side throughout the entire process.  You will therefore benefit from legal advice as you go.  This means that you stay in control, knowing that whilst you are working your way through this you have your lawyer at your side to make sure that all the necessary aspects are considered and discussed.

Both and Viv Clough have trained in Collaborative Legal Practice and are members of the North Cumbria Collaborative Family Law Group, covering Carlisle, Penrith and the surrounding area.  One of the benefits of the collaborative process is that it is not driven by a timetable imposed by the Court which means, to a large extent, the process can be built around your family’s individual timetable and priorities.
